Transparency

As part of the 2022 Adirondack Youth Climate Summit at the Wild Center, AWI partnered with the Finger Lakes Institute to offer a workshop in which high school students learned about water sampling in the field and then had the opportunity to work together to create a collaborative art piece using water quality data.  The colors of these wool felt balls correspond to measured transparency in 8 lakes in Hamilton County. These lakes – Fourth Lake, Lake Pleasant, Morehouse Lake, Sixth Lake, Seventh Lake, Lake Eaton, Limekiln Lake, and Raquette Lake – are among several lakes exhibiting trends of declining transparency as reported in our State of Hamilton County Lakes report.
