Chickadee

AWI conducts long-term monitoring of boreal birds in Adirondack peatlands to understand threats to these birds and their habitats, including that of climate change. Boreal chickadee is among the species we monitor and has been exhibiting declining trends in our region. Data represented in these earrings are detection (light blue) and non-detection (dark blue) of boreal chickadee in 38 Adirondack wetlands from 2007 through 2016; orange beads represent years in which lack of funding prevented bird surveys in some sites.
