2017 B.S. Sustainable Communities and Working Landscapes, Minor in Environmental Communication, Paul Smith’s College

Growing up in Rochester, Shane developed a lifelong love of the water, spending much of his time on and in the water. He moved to the Adirondacks in 2013 to attend Paul Smith’s College and has called the region home ever since. Shane joined the AWI in 2017 as a steward and later served several summers as a regional supervisor. He returned in 2025 as a part-time Field Technician and became a full-time Field Technician I in 2026. His favorite part of the job is visiting remote lakes and ponds that he otherwise would likely never see. Outside of work, Shane’s passion is wildlife photography, with loons being his favorite subject.
