Stewardship Program Manager

Mary joined AWI in November 2025 as the Stewardship Program Manager. Mary grew up in Plattsburgh, NY and spent a decade as a guide and outdoor educator in Vermont and the Adirondacks after college. Her previous positions include Field Director as True North Wilderness Program, Education Programs Manager at the Adirondack Mountain Club, and Public Programs Assistant Manager at the Adirondack Experience. Mary has also spent time as a High Peaks Summit Steward, co-taught the first Leave No Trace Level 2 Instructor course for the Deaf, and has led countless backpacking trips in the High Peaks and along the Northville-Placid Trail. Mary enjoys connecting people to the outdoors so they can become stewards of wild places too. She lives in Saranac Lake where she enjoys hiking, camping, paddling, dancing, and reading in her sunroom.
