Aquatic Invasive Species Prevention Program

Adirondack Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention Program

The Adirondack Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Prevention Program, initiated on May 23, 2015, actively addresses the spread of aquatic invasive species and encourages regional stewardship through a combination of boater education and boat inspection & decontamination. The 2016 program is funded through the leadership of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, drawing on the resources set aside by the people of New York State in its Environmental Protection Fund. State agencies, lake associations, towns and villages, environmental organizations, The Adirondack Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management and the Paul Smith's College Adirondack Watershed Institute are working together to advance this exciting and innovative program.
